Picture a stretch of humid July days where the air feels thick the moment you step outside. Inside, the thermostat is set low, but the rooms never quite cool down, and the unit outside runs and runs without giving you any relief. That is the point where most people call us. At Vacinek Plumbing, Heating & Roofing, Inc., we handle exactly these situations every cooling season, whether it is a system that has finally quit, a unit that never worked well from the start, or a household that simply wants dependable comfort before the heat arrives.

Air conditioning is not something you think about until it stops keeping you comfortable. Our job is to make the whole process straightforward, from the first diagnostic visit to the final test run after an installation. We serve homeowners throughout Hamburg, Boston, Colden, Orchard Park, East Concord, Eden, Springville, Holland & East Aurora, NY with cooling work that is done carefully and explained clearly.

Diagnosing the Problem Before Anything Else

Good AC repair starts with an accurate diagnosis, not a guess. When we arrive for a service call, we begin by listening to what you have noticed. Warm air from the vents, strange noises, short cycling, water pooling near the indoor unit, or a spike in your electric bill all point toward different causes. Each symptom narrows the search before we open a single panel.

From there, we work through the system methodically. We check refrigerant charge, inspect the compressor and condenser coil, test the capacitor and contactor, examine the blower motor, and confirm that the thermostat is reading and signaling correctly. A frozen evaporator coil, for example, often traces back to low refrigerant or restricted airflow rather than the coil itself. Finding the true cause means the repair actually lasts, instead of returning a few weeks later.

Common AC Repairs We Perform

Central air conditioning systems have a number of parts that wear over time or fail suddenly. Our technicians are equipped to handle the full range of these problems in a single visit whenever parts availability allows. Some of the repairs we perform most often include the following.

  • Refrigerant leak repair: locating and sealing leaks, then recharging the system to the manufacturer’s specified level rather than simply topping it off.
  • Capacitor and contactor replacement: two of the most common electrical failures that keep a compressor or fan from starting.
  • Compressor issues: assessing whether a repair is practical or whether replacement is the wiser long-term choice.
  • Blower and fan motor service: restoring the airflow that a cooling system depends on to work efficiently.
  • Drain line clearing: removing clogs that cause water backups and shutoffs from the safety float switch.
  • Thermostat troubleshooting: repairing or upgrading controls so the system responds accurately to your settings.

When an HVAC repair does not make financial sense on an aging unit, we tell you plainly. We would rather help you weigh the cost of one more fix against a replacement than push you toward the more expensive path. That honesty is part of how Vacinek Plumbing, Heating & Roofing, Inc. has kept customers for generations.

AC Maintenance and Seasonal Tune-Ups

Most cooling failures do not happen without warning. Dirty coils, weak capacitors, and low refrigerant usually build up over time, and a seasonal tune-up catches them before they leave you without cool air on the hottest day of the year. A well-maintained system also uses less electricity and tends to last several years longer than one that is neglected.

During a maintenance visit, we clean the condenser and evaporator coils, check and adjust refrigerant levels, tighten electrical connections, test the capacitor and contactor, lubricate moving parts where needed, replace or advise on air filters, and confirm the temperature drop across the system falls within the correct range. We recommend having this done each spring, before the demand for cooling begins. Scheduling ahead of the season also means shorter wait times and greater flexibility on appointments.

New AC Installation and Replacement

Replacing an air conditioner is a bigger decision than a simple repair, and we treat it that way. The first step is proper sizing. An oversized unit cools quickly but cycles on and off too often, wasting energy and leaving humidity behind. An undersized unit runs constantly and never keeps up. We evaluate your home’s square footage, insulation, window exposure, and ductwork to recommend a system that matches the space.

Once the right equipment is selected, we handle the full changeover: removing the old unit, setting the new condenser and evaporator coil, connecting refrigerant lines, verifying the electrical supply, and charging the system to specification. We then run the unit and measure its performance before we consider the work finished. We explain the SEER efficiency rating of what you are buying so you understand the operating cost, not just the purchase.

A Local Company With Deep Roots

Our history reaches back to 1938, when the original Vacinek’s was founded by Louis J. “Louie” Vacinek, who had previously worked for Mosher Heating and started the business out of his home on Franklin Street in Springville, New York. The company grew across generations of the same family and eventually became Vacinek Plumbing, Heating & Roofing, Inc., Inc. In 2011, Dave Filighera and family took ownership and relocated the office to 8038 Boston State Rd. in Hamburg, New York.

That long history shapes how we approach every cooling call today. We provide emergency AC repair when a system fails at the worst possible time, and we handle routine maintenance and full air conditioning installations with the same care. We are proud to show our customers the same respect we would expect them to show members of our own family, and we thank you for the trust you have considered placing in our abilities. We look forward to keeping your home cool and comfortable for years to come.
